Summer Bucket List 2023

Cute lil palm tree in a cute lil beach town

Hey ya’ll! So I definitely haven’t posted as much Eras Tour content as I’d hoped, but the tour is still afoot so maybe I’ll do a little bit of that later :). However, my school just recently got out for the summer and I think its the perfect time to share my summer bucket list! I’m definitely still looking for more ideas, because summer can have me bored out of my mind and I’d hate to just scroll my phone all summer. Anyhow, I hope I can give you some ideas for your bucket list, but if you have any ideas that I don’t have on here, pleasee lmk 🙂

1. Try a New Ice Cream Flavor

Starting small, you can simply try a new ice cream flavor! Maybe bike over to your nearest ice cream parlor on a sunny day and try the craziest flavor they have or just something new. I’m a chocolate chip cookie dough kind of gal every time so just switching the flavor would be pretty crazy.

2. Make Friendship Bracelets

I just love turning on some music and making bracelets. Recently, bead bracelets have been really fun, however, when I have the patience I can make a pretty gnarly bracelet with thread. And, although I don’t have the supplies for this anymore, rubber band bracelets were such a big part of my childhood. I still wear my old ones to this day.

3. Watch the Sunset or Sunrise

You could totally just watch it from a window orrrr you could make it a whole activity and go on a hike, a bike ride, a walk, or however you choose to get around outdoors. This is always such a good beginning or end to the day.

4. Draw a Sidewalk Chalk Masterpiece

This was on my list last year as well but I just never did it for some reason. I had this vision of drawing the whole Rapunzel/Tangled mural from the village in the middle of the street. Then, I thought I’d get run over by a car and also realized that the street was really rough. Maybe one day I can do that, but until then drawing cute doodles and messages will be just as fun.

5. Night Swimming

In my opinion, this is the absolute best time to swim. I mean with the pool lights, the moon, and some good people, you can’t go wrong. The energy is unmatched.

6. Pickle ball + Music

Okay, I’m ngl I thought that pickball was old people tennis for a while. HOWEVER, upon playing in with my bestie and some good music, it’s like giant ping pong and it’s so much fun. And even without pickle ball courts you can just find concrete or a basketball court to play on. Badminton is another similar one.

7. Rock Climbing

This is my absolute favorite kind of gym activity ever. I mean, I could spend hours bouldering at my local (ish) climbing gym. Btw bouldering is essentially a shorter climbing experience with no harnesses or ropes, just mats. I will say though, you still need to land the right way. I have personal experience with a sprained ankle after falling a little weird.

8. Write a Letter to Your Future Self

Ages ago, I bought one of those future letter books. Since then, I had only written 1 letter till a couple days ago. The idea of completely forgetting about the letter and getting an alarm on a random day to hear from my past self is just so exciting. If you’re looking for some ideas for your letters, some of the prompts in my book include “I’d love to visit…”, “It was an extraordinary day…”, and “All the things I’d like to try someday…”.

9. Go to 7/11 on 7/11

I have missed this opportunity year after year, but I’m set on getting that free slushy this time around.

10. Read 23 Books

During the school year, I hardly find time to pick up books for fun. However, this summer, my goal is to read at least 23 books. I’m currently reading Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo and I have to say, I’m really enjoying it. It did take me a while to get past the prologue, but I’m glad I did.

11. Jeans to Shorts

This is pretty self explanatory, but essentially I have like 2 pairs of jeans that fit so well at the waist but they’re just way too short. I really didn’t want to give them away, so I was like hey! why don’t I just make them even shorter. Anyways, I feel like freshening up any old piece of clothing would be fun. You could paint on denim shorts or cut up a t shirt or add some iron-on patches to a basic item.

12. Kayaking/Paddle boarding

I’m a huge fan of just being out on the water doing anything and having a local lake makes that a little easier. If you have a local body of water (or better yet a beach!), get out there!

13. Research Your Dream Jobs

I highly recommended taking a deep dive into career you’ve been wondering about. A while ago I was really getting into the nitty gritty side of marine biology and it was just so fun! I mean as kids we just think it’d be a cool job, but it’s interesting to see all the work that goes on behind the divers. I started listening to podcasts, watching YouTube videos, finding all the sections within marine biology, summer camp opportunities, volunteer opportunities, and also things I could do while being quite the ways away from an ocean. It was enjoyable, inspiring, and helpful in figuring out what I want to do with my life.

14. Paint on a Canvas

For me, it takes a lot to commit to an idea and actually paint it, let alone put it on a canvas. We’re gonna conquer that this summer and put something on a canvas.

15. Bowling Night

I feel like bowling was completely forgotten after Main Event and Pinstack birthday parties passed on. Bring bowling back! I mean not that I’m really any good at it, but I CAN not lose and it’ll still be a great night.

16. Boardwalks and Amusement Parks

I adore boardwalks and amusement parks. I mean cute summer outfits, funnel cakes, that feeling during a rollercoaster drop, winning cutie stuffed animals at $5 games. You could easily spend a whole day here doing that and honestly probably just standing in lines.

17. Crochet Something

I have so many crochet projects on my crochet bucket list right now. And for those of you who don’t know how to crochet, I highly encourage you to learn! It’s really just made up of a series of pulling yarn over your hook and then pulling it through. It’s so therapeutic and 100% apart of my at-home therapy.

18. Cut Out Things From Magazines

I honestly just love flipping through magazines and cutting out the things that draw my attention. I mean its really just free collage and journal material. I have the best times just filling up journal pages with things from magazines, from candy wrappers, from paint swatches, and etc.

19. Boat Day!

Okay, now this one takes some planning for sure. But just the idea of spending a whole day out on the water tubing, eating cold sandwiches (the ones that are meant to b cold), drinking lemonade, and blasting music with good friends just sounds like such a good time.

20. Bike Somewhere

The library. The ice cream shop. The farmers’s market. The park. The biggest downhill street in your neighborhood.

21. Movie Marathon

I just found every single Barbie movie ever on one YouTube channel, so basically I found my whole childhood in one spot. I’m planning for a Barbie themed movie night reallll soon. Obviously there are tons of themes tho. Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars to name a few.

22. Board Game Tournament

If you have family or friends with enough patience and willpower to go through with this, this would be so fun! Personally cannot relate, buttt maybe an uno tournament would work.

23. Post 1 Blogpost per Week

I’m gonna try really hard to stick to that this summer. For real. I mean it.

And there it is, 23 things to do in Summer 2023! I hope I gave you at least one singular idea for your summer plans this year. If you’re looking for a few more ideas, this blogpost should have a few more for you. Apologies if there are similar ones on both, I really didn’t remember that blogpost till just now lol. Anyways I hope you have a fabtastic summer and I’ll see you next week :))
