Fall, thoughts

my fall essentials

(I know I know fall could probably be considered over, but I really forgot abt this post so pretend it’s not over yetttt)

Hey ya’ll! As it FINALLY starts to get cooler, I’m getting so excited for fall! (You can really tell how long this has been in the drafts) I mean the day the lowest temp for the day dropped to 60, I pulled out my fav turtleneck. I almost brought out my earmuffs and scarf but I drew the line there (im not insane i promise). And thank goodness I did because on the walk home from school I was literally sweating. But anywaysss sweater season is ALMOST here! And in honor of that, here’s my fall essentials 🙂

(I’m not gonna lie, by the time I posted this, the weather was down in the 30s 😭)

~books~

  • Harry Potter series – J.K. Rowling

Starting off with the classics ofc. I was just rereading Prisoner of Azkaban yesterday and those books rly just take you to another world for a while. Ooh and I haven’t actually seen all the movies but that another fun fall-ish thing.

  • The Lost Apothecary – Sarah Penner

Oh my goodness this is definitely another one of those books that absolutely takes you somewhere else. In this case, down the alleys and streets of eighteenth century and present day England, through a secret network of women who got their revenge. Just writing about this book makes me want to read it again.

  • A Snake Falls to Earth – Darcie Little Badger

This is definitely one of my most favorite books ever. To be completely honest I did pick up this book because the cover was beautiful. However, after reading that it incorporated traditional Lipan Apache storytelling with parallel worlds, animals, and magic, how could I not buy it?

~shows~

  • Gilmore Girls

Another absolute classic for fall. I’ve just started rewatching season 1 and its so nostalgic to last fall. This show is just so comforting and fun and wholesome to watch.

  • Anne with an E

This show has such a storyline and Anne is such a beautiful character to watch. There’s something about this show that just makes it so special and comforting. And if you’ve seen the show, just know that I cannot stop thinking about the flower decorations from the midsummer ball.

~clothes~

  • Sweatersss

Like I said before, I’m too excited for sweater season. Ugly sweaters, cute sweaters, oversized sweaters, cropped sweaters, it really doesn’t matter. I know I’ll say comforting so much in this post, but sweaters really are so comforting and cozy.

  • Socks, earmuffs, scarfs, & hatsss

The fall accessory list is so top tier. I mean you’ll be warm and you’ll be the cutest person ever. I’m getting countless flashbacks to the times I never wanted to wear hats and scarfs as a kid.

  • Jeans

I know some people can’t stand wearing jeans, but I love styling jeans. And when you have jeans that fit perfectly, you’re literally unstoppable.

~music~

  • folklore, evermore, and Red

These 3 are one hundred percent my top 3 autumn albums. I literally have an autumn playlist with just these albums.

  • i knew you were trouble – sabrina carpenter cover

Okay this song has just been playing over and over in my head because oh my goodness I never thought I Knew You Were Trouble could sound like this. I just love the slight changes she made to the song to turn it into a beautiful, slower paced song (not that the og IKYWT isn’t iconic).

  • can’t catch me now – olivia rodrigo

I literally cannot stop listening to this song, I mean if I had premium Spotify I REALLY wouldn’t stop listening to it but what can you do. There’s really just something about the way she says “I’m in the trees, I’m in the breeze, my footprints on the ground”.

  • falling behind – laufey

This song is so fun to sing and also so sad and meaningful at the same time. I haven’t really heard too much of laufey’s music but this song makes me feel like I definitely should.

  • astronomy – conan gray

Another beautiful song. Conan gray’s vocals and lyricism never disappoint.

~food~

  • soupppp

Steaming hot soup on a chilly day is just so comforting and makes me feel all warm and cozy. One of my favorites has got to be tom yum noodle soup. It’s just sooo good and will clear your sinuses for sure.

  • jam cookies

Really this is an all year thing, but something abt these cookies just looks so autumnal. If you want to make my favorite jam heart cookie recipe, here’s the link to my blogpost!

  • pasta

Again definitely an all year food, but piping hot pasta with sauce or soup makes me too happy on a freezing day.

  • pumpkin pie crisp

This is so delicious but also perfect if you’re not the biggest fan of pumpkin pie texture because the crumble really helps balance it out. Top it with vanilla ice cream pleaseeee.

~activities~

  • crocheting

I definitely crochet all year round but crocheting in the fall and winter just feels so cozy. If you don’t know how to crochet, what better time to learn than now! I’m so serious when I say that it’s just like 3 stitches used in a million different ways.

  • pick up seasonal Starbucks items!

By the time I’m posting this, the pumpkin spiced items are already gone 😦 buttttt the Christmas items are hereee. So if you’re already accepting the fact that Christmas is here, then there’s this lol.

  • write a letter to someoneee

Something about handwriting letter to the people you love gives autumnal energy. You could write a letter to a friend, a family member, or even your future self. You could also write letters and not send them. This could definitely be a good method of journaling.

  • reading eraaa

I know I know, this is an all year thing. However, I haven’t reading like ANY books recently and it’s so sad. So this fall we’re getting all bundled up in a fuzzy blanket and getting back in our reading era!

Okayyy that was my lil list of fall essentials. I hope it got you even just a little bit excited for these cooler seasons! And if you’re still not excited, don’t worry we’ll make it through together. Praying that your allergies are nonexistent this autumn! Have the best day!
