Wow. Red (Taylor’s Version) came out yesterday and I can’t express my love in words (proceeds to write an entire blogpost). You will find me vibing, crocheting, reading, journaling, eating, and sleeping to this album. This is exactly what I would imagine an autumn album to be. Nostalgic, dreamy, fun. Oh and happy, free, confused, and lonely in the best way. Can we take a moment to acknowledge the 10 MINUTE VERSION OF ALL TOO WELL?! I absolutely adore the new lyrics and although I had never heard them till Friday, they fit like a perfect rhyme. I just want to dedicate a post to this album so here are my favorite lyrics, my interpretations, and my thoughts in general.
That was all written the day after the release of the album and I still strongly believe in what I wrote. Listening to the 10 minute version All Too Well was an experience in itself and of course the short film. The film was just glowing with autumn energy. The storyline was just perfect for the song and definitely made me smile and want to cry. It was a little explicit depending on what you would consider explicit, but I still thought it was super sweet and added to the whole excitement of the Red re-recording.
I just have to mention a few of my favorite lyrics, so here they are
- “And I loved in shades of wrong … mosaic broken hearts” – State Of Grace by Taylor Swift
- ”Back to a first glance feeling on New York time” – Holy Ground by Taylor Swift
- “Back when you fit my poems like a perfect rhyme” – Holy Ground by Taylor Swift
- ”We’re dancin’ ’round the kitchen in the refrigerator light” – All Too Well (10 minute version) by Taylor Swift
- ”They weren’t riding in the car when we both fell” – The Very First Night by Taylor Swift
- ”A new notch in your belt is all I’ll ever be” – I Knew You Were Trouble by Taylor Swift
- “And I know why we had to say goodbye like the back of my hand, but I just miss you and I just wish you were a better man” – Better Man by Taylor Swift
- ”You kept my like a secret, but I kept you like an oath” – All Too Well (10 minute version) by Taylor Swift
- “The love that you’re looking for is the love that you had” – I Bet You Think About Me by Taylor Swift
These are all lines that I love lyrically. They either spark and emotion in me, paint a picture in my head, or I can actually relate to them. I put them in the order that I believe someone in a relationship might have felt these emotions in.
You know this is quite random but I definitely think that each Taylor Swift album is like an aesthetic, a lifestyle, an era. They all symbolize different, important moments and phases in her life, and when you love and listen to someone else’s music, it becomes a part of your life. For example, maybe you went through a One Direction phase, you may not listen to their music as much anymore, but that music was a part of your life. Screaming ”That’s What Makes You Beautiful” while dancing with your a best friend will be a memory that stays with you. That tangent came out of nowhere, but I’m going to leave it here anyways because why not? What I said about phases, reminds me of this planner I saw yesterday. It was a yearly planner and had the moon phases on the front and read ”It’s just a phase”. On the inside it had the moon phases of every day marked which I thought was pretty cool. I haven’t seen that before. It was from a brand called Fringe and they had so many visually-pleasing-while-being-functional planners! That is my kind of planner.
I’m very excited for Thanksgiving and the holiday season coming up ahead. The whole energy of this season makes me smile. I can’t wait to bake and cook with my family, send letters in decorated envelopes to friends and family, drink hot cocoa while watching christmas movies, and travel to the places of my wildest dreams through books in my room.
To close off here is a quote I love.
You cannot change the cards you are dealt, just the way you play the hand
I’m not sure on who said or wrote this quote, I saw it on pinterest the other day.
This quote helped me work through my procrastination and stress the other day. I’m glad I saw it because I will carry these words with me moving forward. They remind me that I cannot change the past and I cannot change how much time I have left. I can only change the present, how I use my time, and where I focus my energy.
Nice to see you all the way down here 👋. I hope to see you again 🙂
