My Current Favorites

I didn’t actually include food in the post but watermelon hits different on a hot summer day 😍

Hey ya’ll! Recently I’ve had so many ideas for blogposts, but I haven’t been taking the time to actually sit down and create them. I’m trying to start implementing the ideas I have for this blog! Anyways as you can probably tell, this is a current favorites post. I was inspired by some of the post’s on Fran Acciardo’s blog. I think I might start doing this as a monthly thing or a whenever – I – really – feel – like – it kinda thing. I feel like this post would be a fun thing to look back on and it’s pretty much a list of recommendations to you!

I’ve been reading a book called Other Words for Home by Jasmine Warga. I love this book so far for many reason. Firstly, the entire book is written in stanzas or a poem form. I haven’t read a book like this before, but I like it. It’s kind of like one big poem split into chapters. I love that the author sprinkled in beautiful messages, similes, and Arabic proverbs throughout. It was refreshing to see her perspective on the world we live in. Even though her life is different than mine, I was able to relate to Jude in many ways. Oh, also gorgeous cover 😍.

In addition to this book, I’ve been reading these blogs recently!

This dress has been one of my favorite summer dresses! It fits me well and I like that the slit doesn’t reveal much. It has a midi length and I don’t have many dresses like this. I feel so cute when I wear this dress!

OK, these tops are so versatile and comfortable. I wear them when I’m on hikes, biking, and activity in general, but I also pair them with shorts or skirts to be worn as an everyday fit. They work as great summer tank tops. I absolutely love these and would highly recommend them.

This headband gives off super summery, tropical vibes. I got it at target from the brand scunci in February and its still in great condition. I wear it out in the sun and I haven’t had an issues with faded coloring. My hair was super long when I first got it and it worked great! Then, recently I cut my hair short and got layers done and it still looks great!

I have these 2 hats that I’ve been wearing a lot lately. Am I becoming a hat person? I was never against hats, but they used to be super annoying cause they would just make my forehead sweaty and fall off my small head, lol. I have a Ron Jon surf cap that was given to me and this Polaroid hat which was actually an accidental purchase. So you know how when you’re shopping and you just put things you like into the cart to think about them at checkout? Well I did that (like I always do 😂) , but then only my dad checked out and bought every thing in the cart. Then when we got home we realized that this hat came with us. We really didn’t want to go return something so my mom told me that if I liked it I could keep it. So thats the story behind this hat, but I do like it because I love my Polaroid camera!

Lately, I’ve been RipStik-ing out in front of my house quite a bit. Our street is on a slope, so its pretty fun to go down. Me and my family are starting to go on bike rides again. We have this route thats about 4-5 miles long, which we did a ton last summer. Even though we’ve done it like a million times, it’s still a pretty fun route. I haven’t been doing a ton of indoor workouts lately, I love Madfit’s song workouts on YouTube, but she doesn’t post them very often. I’ve been redoing some of my favorites or doing older ones I haven’t done. I want to start stretching more often. I had a yoga/HITT class at 7:30 every evening, but my teacher is at a yoga retreat. A while ago I had reached my splits – thanks to this class – but, I lost them (My splits have been on and off over the years). My goal this summer is to stretch everyday for at least 10 minutes and become closer to my goal of reaching my splits. I don’t want to force or rush a pose like this, so I don’t have a set date for when I want to reach this goal. My main focus is to have some kind of movement in my daily routine.

On the 4th of July, me and my dad went to a treetop adventure park! It was basically rope course obstacles and ziplines that were up in the trees. Trees were part of the course as well as a lot of wood structures. The trees were huge and the highest height at the park was about 50 ft! I cannot wait to go again with friends.

Back in June (so crazy to say that, how are we so far into the year!?), we took a road trip to Chicago and Detroit. We stayed there for 2 weeks and stayed with close family. It was really fun to see them after so long and meet old friends who stayed close by. One of the many things we did in Chicago was getting to see the Van Gogh immersive experience!

During June we also visited the nearest 2 story Barnes and Noble! I just love Barnes and Noble ❤️. I bought 4 books that looked interesting and I’m so excited to read them!

So here are 2 things that don’t really fit into any categories, but I still wanted to include in this post. Firstly, I have been loving my new haircut! It’s about 6 inches past my shoulders, which is shorter than it sounds. Well, my hair prior to this cut was quite long so maybe its just short for me. My “new hair” has layers and face framing pieces, I haven’t done this style before and I really like it. The girl who did my hair was so nice, we were talking the whole time and I hope I can get my hair done by her again, because she did an amazing job and was so fun to talk to!

And secondly, I actually got my first vaccine shot! I’m so glad that I’m finally doing this, I’m still going to be safe and take the normal COVID-19 precautions that I’ve been taking. However, this is like another layer of safety and a step towards “normal life”. Also they actually give the shot pretty high up on your arm, so I was nervous but I actually didn’t feel it go in. When I got home my mom was like “Are you sure it went in if you couldn’t feel it?”, haha. I haven’t experienced any side effects and I’m so grateful for that.

Thank you so much for reading! Congrats on making it all the way down here, that was a lot of reading! Anyways I hope I’ll see you again next time 😊.
